Garage Doors in Mississauga, OntarioWarmer garage.Warmer house.

An insulated steel door with a good thermal break and fresh seals changes the temperature of the garage and the rooms it touches. We explain what the insulation numbers mean in everyday terms and fit doors that suit how you use the space.

From the shop

Doors that lift the way they should.

An opener has to be set up for the door it is lifting. We adjust travel limits so the door closes fully without slamming, set the force so it reverses on a light obstruction, and confirm the sensors are wired and aligned. Then we program every remote, keypad and wall button and clear out any codes from devices you no longer own.

Garage door services

Pick the job, we handle it

Doors in this climate work hard: freezing nights, salt on the driveway, humid summers. Our services cover the wear that comes from all of it, plus the upgrades that make a door easier to live with, like insulation and phone control.

Repairs

Repair & Maintenance

Here you will find the services for a door that works but not well. It shudders, it hangs a little crooked, it lets the draft through or it takes two tries to close.

Springs

Springs & Hardware

If the door dropped suddenly, hangs crooked, or needs real effort to lift by hand, the spring and cable system is where we look first. These services put it right.

  1. Steel and nylon garage-door rollers with long stems lie beside a detached hinge on a workbench. — Garage Door Roller Replacement, Mississauga
Garage Door Roller ReplacementSince the cold snap the door has been stiff and noisy first thing, and after the last thaw the bottom corner began to judder. There is slush in the foot of the track and a bloom of rust on the lowest wheel.
  2. Metal center hinge across a seam in a white sectional garage door. — Garage Door Hinge Replacement, Mississauga
Garage Door Hinge ReplacementThe car nudged the door on the way in. There is a dent low on one end, and above it the hinge that carries the roller is bent so the panel edges rub together and squeal as the door lifts.
  3. Gloved hands holding a vertical garage-door track and a wrench at its mounting bracket beside a door hinge. — Garage Door Track Repair or Replacement, Mississauga
Garage Door Track Repair or ReplacementThe garage floor has settled at one corner, and the door now scrapes the concrete on that side while daylight shows at the other. The track on the low side sits crooked against a jamb that has split.
  4. Gloved hands holding a bright cable and pliers gripping a frayed cable beside a garage-door track and pulley. — Garage Door Cable Replacement, Mississauga
Garage Door Cable ReplacementThe car bumper kissed the door on the way in. The bottom panel has a dent, the bracket in that corner sits crooked, and the cable on that side has jumped and gone slack, so the door reverses every time it tries to close.
  5. Detached coil springs with end fittings and a cable rest on a bench in front of a closed garage door. — Torsion Spring Replacement, Mississauga
Torsion Spring ReplacementYou heard a sharp bang from the garage, and now the opener hums for a second and gives up. The door lifts a few centimetres at most, then settles back down as if something very heavy is holding it in place.
  6. Two detached extension springs with hooked ends on a garage bench. — Extension Spring Replacement, Mississauga
Extension Spring ReplacementYou pulled the red cord to open the door during a power cut and it barely moved. Lifting it took your whole weight, and when you let go it came down hard.
  7. A person stands beside a closed sectional door beneath its overhead spring assembly. — Garage Door Balance Adjustment, Mississauga
Garage Door Balance AdjustmentThe opener has started to groan on the way up. The door climbs slowly, hesitates near the top, and on the way down it sometimes stops a hand's width above the floor and reverses, as if something were in the way when…

Garage Door Panel Replacement

After an overnight freeze the door stuck to the slab, the opener strained, and something gave. The bottom section is bowed inward, one hinge has torn free of its screws, and the rubber seal along the bottom no longer sits flat.

Which fix fits?

Lifting the door by hand feels like lifting the car.The usual fix

UsuallySpring tension adjustment or replacement.

WhyThe springs are meant to carry nearly all the weight; when they fade, the strain shifts to you and the opener.

When you release the opener the door slides down on its own.The usual fix

UsuallyBalance adjustment.

WhyA balanced door stays put at half height; drifting means the springs need winding or replacing.

The door flies up on its own and bangs the stops. The usual fix

UsuallySpring tension reduction.

WhyToo much tension is as hard on hardware as too little; a careful adjustment settles it.

Strong gusts make the centre of your wide garage door bow inward and the rollers chatter in their tracks. The usual fix

UsuallyWind-Rated Garage Door Replacement

WhyAn exposed garage can experience both wind pushing the door inward and suction drawing it outward.

A front elevation update has brought new trim, lighting and a deeper colour palette, leaving the garage door as the remaining piece. The usual fix

UsuallyCarriage-House Garage Door Installation

WhyThe completed installation includes more than hanging attractive panels.

Your workshop faces the driveway and needs a professional, welcoming frontage without putting tools on display. The usual fix

UsuallyFull-View Glass Garage Door Installation

WhyA full-view door can be planned for a garage that stays active through winter.

How a visit goes

On a door with two springs, replacement usually starts with a conversation about scope. Both springs have completed the same number of cycles, so when one breaks the other is typically close behind, and replacing the pair together gives the door two matched springs sharing the load evenly.

Drawing: a house seen from the street. The van pulls up, the garage door is opened for the work, then it closes level and the porch light comes on.

2021 census · what it means at the door

  • 38%Homes of every age

About 38% of homes in Mississauga were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.

A blend of older and newer homes usually means a blend of expectations too: keeping an original door running as long as sensible, or bringing a builder-grade door up to a quieter standard. Both are worthwhile, and the choice is explained at the door with the options side by side.

  • 37%

Single-detached houses make up about 37% of homes in Mississauga (2021 Census).

Townhouse and condo owners often share responsibility for the door with a board or property manager, so we provide a clear written report after each visit: what was found, what was replaced and what is likely to need attention next, ready to pass along.

Short answers

What photos help when I call?

A picture of the full spring assembly above the door, showing the centre bracket, both drums and how many springs there are, tells the technician a great deal. Add a close shot of the broken spring gap and any tag or colour marking on the cones, a photo of the cables at the bottom brackets, and one of the opener. These help confirm the door's configuration so the right springs and hardware are on the truck.

What other parts are often replaced with the spring?

The shaft is free during a spring change, which makes it the natural time to renew the centre bearing and end bearings if they grind or wobble. Lift cables that show fraying or rust at the bottom brackets are replaced so the new spring pulls on sound steel, and cracked or worn drums are swapped. On older doors, a corroded centre bracket or loose lag bolts may also be addressed. Each item is shown and explained before it is added.

Are springs different for a heavy wooden or insulated door?

Yes, and this is exactly why the door is weighed. A solid wood door or a thick insulated steel door can weigh far more than a single-skin steel door of the same size, so it needs heavier wire, a larger coil or a second spring to balance. The technician measures the actual weight and selects accordingly, so the finished door lifts as easily by hand as a lighter one.

What happens if the header wood or centre bracket is damaged?

The centre bracket anchors the spring's reaction force to the framing above the door, so it has to be solid. If the header has split or softened, or the lag bolts have pulled, the technician can refasten into sound wood, add a reinforcing plate or replace the bracket before the new spring is wound. Dealing with this first keeps the shaft level and the spring pulling straight, which protects the bearings and the door.

How should I clean the lenses?

Gently, with a soft dry or lightly damp cloth, the way you would clean eyeglasses. Never scrape a lens or use a solvent, since a scratched or clouded lens scatters the beam. Wipe both sensors, then check that the receiving light comes on steadily. If a lens frosts on cold mornings, give it a few minutes to clear or dry it with a cloth. A quarterly wipe keeps dust, cobwebs and salt film from building up.
